- Disabled Parking Placard
- In California a disabled persons parking placard allows you to park at designated disabled parking spaces and to park at a metered parking space without having to pay. If you have an out of state or country disabled parking permit you can take this to any Department of Motor Vehicle and they will issue you a temporary placard good for 90 days for a $6 fee. If you run into any problems give these vehicle codes, 22511.5 subpart 3b and 22511.59 subpart 5c.

- Disabled Discount Pass to State Parks
- This discount pass entitles certifiably disabled persons to a 50% discount for use of all basic facilities at any unit of the California State Park System. Cost of the pass is $3.00 and you must submit an application. Request an application by mail from the Department of Parks and Recreation or ask for one at any state park entrance.

- Gas Stations
- California law requires that gas stations that have an attendent are required to pump gas at the self serve price for people displaying either a disabled placard or license plate. However, if there is only a cashier at the station then they are not required to comply with this law.

- Relay Operator for Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- People who are deaf or hard of hearing can phone people who do not have a TDD (communication device for the deaf) by using the Relay Service. Call the appropriate number below and the operator will contact your party and relay your conversation. Speech to Speech Service enables a person with a speech disability to use the Relay Service (using their own voice or voice synthesizer) to call another person. These services are free except for any toll charges.

- Weather
- The best months to visit Northern California are in the fall and spring. The fall months typically bring Indian Summer weather with clear warm days and the spring months bring an abundance of wild flowers and temperate conditions. Summer months in the coastal region can be cool and the fog can linger all day. December through March is the season for rain in the lower elevations and snow in the mountains.
